Nine West Midlands Regions Under Rare Red Heat Warning
The Met Office has declared a rare red heat warning for nine regions across the West Midlands as temperatures have already reached 34°C. The warning extends into Thursday, June 25, with an amber alert also in place for Friday, June 26.
Regions Affected
The full list of West Midlands regions under the warning includes: Shropshire, Staffordshire, Stoke-on-Trent, Telford and Wrekin, Warwickshire, West Midlands Conurbation, Worcestershire, and Birmingham. Additionally, East Midlands regions such as Derby, Derbyshire, Leicester, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, and Rutland are also covered.
Temperature Forecast
Temperatures are expected to remain at 34°C in Birmingham on Thursday, matching Wednesday's highs. The Met Office warns that very hot weather will continue across much of England, with daytime temperatures widely exceeding 30°C and potentially peaking around 38°C in eastern and central England. Overnight lows are unlikely to fall below the high teens Celsius, with some areas not dropping below the low 20s Celsius. High humidity will accompany the heat.
Cooler Conditions Ahead
According to the Met Office, cooler conditions will slowly begin to establish from the west after this period, although very warm conditions are likely to persist across east and southeastern England through Saturday, albeit less intense than earlier in the week.
