The Met Office and BBC Weather teams have issued the latest forecast for the days ahead, amid the promise of improving weather after a dull start to June. The exact date the UK will next hit 30C has been announced.
Weekend Warmth
As we head into the weekend the weather is expected to improve with a shift towards more settled conditions across the UK, the Met Office has promised. Dan Stroud, meteorologist at the Met Office, said: "We're looking at temperatures climbing into the weekend, particularly on Saturday and Sunday, so feeling much warmer than recent days, with temperatures quite widely above average, especially across the south come Saturday, and even more so on Sunday."
"There is definitely a chance of temperatures scraping into the above 30 degrees on Sunday, and then more so on Monday." It would mean Sunday, June 14 is the next 30C date.
BBC Forecast
BBC forecaster Helen Willetts said: "By Friday, conditions should become brighter, with sunny spells and blustery showers, while temperatures edge a little higher. Looking further ahead, confidence is increasing that high pressure will begin to build during the weekend, bringing a spell of drier, sunnier and warmer weather to many areas."
Detailed Outlook
An outlook for the week from the Met Office says: "A spell of wet and windy weather moves in for Thursday. Largely cloudy on Friday with patchy rain. High pressure developing from Saturday bringing sunny spells and rising temperatures."
The BBC adds: "Tomorrow will be rather cloudy. Scattered showers will redevelop. They will be more frequent during the afternoon across eastern areas, thundery and locally heavy. Thursday will be cloudy and breezy. Outbreaks of rain will move in, heavy at times in the west. Friday will be rather breezy. The south will be cloudy with showers in western areas. Northern areas will see variable cloud and showers to the west. On Saturday, cloud will gradually shift to the north, whilst the south turns sunny and warm."
