Caerphilly Residents Urged to Help Shape Future of Outdoor Access Network

Residents across Caerphilly County Borough are being called upon to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of outdoor access, as plans advance to re-establish the Caerphilly Local Access Forum. This initiative aims to bring together diverse voices to inform the maintenance, improvement, and accessibility of the area's extensive network of public rights of way.

Extensive Network Supporting Recreation and Wellbeing

With approximately 800 kilometers (500 miles) of public rights of way to explore, ranging from scenic footpaths to multi-use routes, this network is crucial for supporting recreation, wellbeing, and everyday access to the outdoors. The Local Access Forum will provide a platform for community input, ensuring these routes meet the needs of all users.

Inclusive Approach to Accessibility

The Forum is particularly eager to hear from individuals from under-represented groups, including those who use mobility aids or have experience of disability or limited mobility. This inclusive approach aligns with the Sport and Active Recreation Strategy 2019-2029, aiming to ensure access works for everyone, regardless of ability.

Opportunities for Diverse Interests

Whether you enjoy walking, cycling, running, exploring nature, or work within the countryside, there is an opportunity to share your views and help shape future access across the county borough. The Forum will also support the review of the Council's Rights of Way Improvement Plan, ensuring it reflects the evolving needs of local communities.
