Hundreds of residents in the East Midlands have been plunged into darkness this evening following a significant power cut.

What Happened?

The incident, described by the National Grid as a 'high voltage incident', was first reported at 4:56 pm on Monday, November 17. The issue has left more than 600 properties without electricity, causing significant disruption as night falls.

A spokesperson for the National Grid confirmed that 609 properties in Nottinghamshire are affected. The utility company has apologised for the disruption and assured residents that resolving the issue is a top priority.

Areas Affected and Response

The properties impacted are all located within the NG12 postcode area. According to reports from NottinghamshireLive, some properties in the NG4 postcode also experienced a brief loss of power.

National Grid engineers were dispatched immediately and are on the ground working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. The company released a statement saying, "We understand how disruptive this is and sincerely apologise for the impact on your day. Our engineers are working to get your power back on as quickly as possible."
