American TikToker Slams Asda Meal Deal Wrap as '1 out of 10' in Viral Review
US TikToker Rates Asda Meal Deal Wrap '1 out of 10'

American TikToker Tries Classic British Meal Deal and Delivers Harsh Verdict

An American social media creator who regularly samples British cuisine on TikTok has sparked online debate after reviewing a quintessential UK supermarket meal deal from Asda. The influencer, who operates under the username carfoodreview_uk and boasts over 26,000 followers, purchased the three-item combination for £3.74 following a specific recommendation from one of her viewers.

The Meal Deal Selection and Initial Reactions

The fan had suggested what they described as an "unreal" combination: a Mexican three-bean wrap, a chocolate bar or fruit, and either Diet Coke or Cherry Dr Pepper. However, the Asda branch visited did not stock the recommended wrap, prompting the TikToker to select a smoky beans and cheddar alternative instead. She completed her meal deal with a bottle of Dr Pepper Cherry Crush and a Twirl Xtra chocolate bar containing two bars.

Beginning her review with the beverage, she explained, "I'm dying of thirst because I just ran up like three stories in this Asda so I'm trying the Dr Pepper Cherry Crush. I don't think I've seen this in America, so this is new to me." After tasting it, she remarked positively, "This has a strong cherry flavour. It tastes like something I would have back in America. I like it."

Scathing Review of the Wrap

The main item, however, received dramatically different treatment. Before trying the wrap, she noted her concerns about the ingredients, stating, "I was just reading what was in this and, y'all, I cannot escape jalapenos. I feel like every order recently that you guys have suggested has jalapenos, and I am weak. My tummy is sensitive. I don't do spice well."

After taking a bite, she delivered her brutal assessment: "Look, this isn't her exact order so I don't feel bad saying this - this is like a one out of 10 for me." She immediately followed this criticism by reaching for the chocolate, declaring, "Let's wash that down with some chocolate. I got a Twirl, which I love."

Mixed Results and Viewer Reactions

Describing the Twirl bar as "sort of like a Twix bar" before tasting it, she observed after sampling, "Mmm, it's like, flaky." Concluding her video, she raised the drink bottle, declaring, "This was a hit," before holding up the wrap and stating definitively, "And this was a miss."

The video prompted numerous responses from viewers offering their own meal deal recommendations. One commenter suggested, "Perfect meal deal for me is a prawn mayo sandwich with salt and vinegar McCoy's. The key part is putting the crisps on the sandwich, squash it all down, amazing! Cherry Pepsi Max for the drink." Another recommended, "Do Tesco chicken and sweetcorn sandwich, cheese and onion McCoy's, and an Oasis."

Some viewers challenged her description of the Twirl chocolate bar, with one remarking, "In which universe is a Twirl like a Twix... It's a Flake covered with chocolate." Another commented on broader chocolate quality concerns, writing, "More and more people are boycotting Cadburys, due to the amount of palm oil they use. It doesn't even taste like chocolate anymore and it doesn't melt the same either."

A different perspective emerged from another viewer who questioned the premise of reviewing meal deals as gourmet food, stating, "Why are we sending her to get meal deals as if it's some gourmet food? It's not supposed to be excellent quality, its cheap and cheerful."

The American TikToker's review highlights the cultural fascination with British supermarket traditions while demonstrating how subjective food preferences can be, particularly when crossing international boundaries. Her one-out-of-ten rating for the wrap has generated significant engagement and discussion about the quality and expectations surrounding these popular budget meal options.
