Midlands Braces for Weekend Snow as Temperatures Plunge to -2C
Midlands snow forecast with temperatures dropping to -2C

The Midlands is preparing for another bout of wintry weather this weekend, with fresh snowfall forecast and temperatures expected to drop to a biting -2C. This comes after the Met Office issued several weather alerts for snow and ice across parts of the UK on Thursday.

Weekend Snowfall Predictions

According to the latest data from WX Charts, which utilises Metdesk information, a significant band of snow is predicted to sweep across the region in the early hours of Saturday, November 22. The snowfall is expected to be heaviest around the Staffordshire and Derbyshire border, specifically to the east of Stoke.

The weather maps indicate that at 6am on Saturday, the snow front will stretch down through Staffordshire into eastern parts of Birmingham, Solihull, and northern Warwickshire.

Plummeting Temperatures

Residents are being warned of a severe overnight chill preceding the snowfall. Weather models show temperatures are set to plunge to -2C in the Stoke area around midnight on Saturday. Meanwhile, Birmingham is forecast to see temperatures drop to -1C.

Although the snow is expected to clear by 9am on Saturday, the cold conditions will persist throughout the day, with temperatures remaining in the low single digits.

Official Weather Outlook

While the Met Office has not issued any further weather alerts for the remainder of the week, their forecast for the period from Saturday to Monday suggests a change is on the horizon. They predict: "Rain and cloud spreading in from the west on Saturday. Turning less cold over the weekend with further outbreaks of rain or showers Sunday and Monday, some brighter spells too."

This indicates that while the weekend starts with a sharp cold snap and snow, slightly milder, if unsettled, conditions will follow.
