A four-year-old girl from Dolgarrog is set to take on a sponsored fun run to support a local children's hospice charity. Phoebe Parrish-Williams decided to tackle the challenge after watching her keen runner dad complete his own races. Inspired by his achievements, the pair found an event where they could run together to raise money for Hope House Tŷ Gobaith.
Inspired by Dad
Her dad, Ben, commented: "Phoebe had seen me finish a few races and said that when she was older, she wanted to try doing one. She’s very determined and has been doing some practice runs with me. She’s raised almost £200 for the hospices and is really buzzing about it."
Phoebe's determination has already translated into significant fundraising success, with nearly £200 collected for the charity. Her enthusiasm reflects a growing awareness of the importance of supporting local healthcare services, particularly those dedicated to children with life-threatening conditions.
The Teddy Bear Run
Organised by Run The Distance, the Teddy Bear Run is a fun event where families can run, walk or skip 2.5km or 5km with their favourite teddy, with everyone receiving a cuddly toy at the finish line. The event is designed to be inclusive and enjoyable for all ages, encouraging families to participate together while raising vital funds.
Hope House fundraiser, Harriet Richards, added: "Go on, Phoebe! We’re all right behind you and your dad. It’s such a lovely event and will be full of smiles and memories for the families. At the heart of it, the money raised will directly benefit local children and families who are living with a life-threatening condition. Good luck, guys."

Impact on Local Charity
Hope House Tŷ Gobaith provides essential care and support to children with life-threatening conditions and their families across North Wales and the border counties. Events like the Teddy Bear Run are crucial for raising the funds needed to sustain these services, which include respite care, end-of-life care, and emotional support.
Phoebe's participation exemplifies how even the youngest members of the community can make a meaningful difference. Her story is likely to inspire other families to take part in similar fundraising activities, amplifying the positive impact on the charity.
