The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has confirmed it is making enquiries after a man was seriously injured at a business in Darlaston, Walsall. The incident occurred on Thursday, August 6, at an industrial site on Darlaston Road, with the man rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police closed the entrance to the industrial estate, which is understood to be the premises of Globe Mix Concrete, shortly after the alarm was raised. Police tape was seen stretching from a metal gate to an upright sign, and across to the entrance of a nearby pub, which was unrelated to the incident.

Paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to the scene just after 8am. Upon arrival, they found a man with serious injuries. He received advanced trauma care at the scene before being transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital under emergency blue light conditions.

A spokesperson for the HSE told BirminghamLive: "We are making enquiries after being notified about this incident by West Midlands Police."

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service added: "We were called shortly after 8am to an incident on Darlaston Road in Walsall. One ambulance attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a man with serious injuries. He received advanced trauma care at the scene before being conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital under emergency blue light conditions for further treatment."

Police cordon and community impact

A police car was pictured inside the square-like cordon, with an officer standing outside the driver's door. The cordon remained in place for several hours as investigations continued. Globe Mix Concrete has been approached for comment but has not yet responded.
