Swansea Hospital Launches Community Health Events with Menopause Evening
Swansea Hospital Launches Community Health Events

HMT Sancta Maria Hospital in Swansea has introduced a new series of community health events designed to help local residents understand treatment options and support services. The first session, focused on menopause, took place on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, and was led by consultant Dr Sandar Hlaing.

Menopause Evening Marks First Event

Attendees at the evening session learned about the physical and emotional changes associated with perimenopause and menopause, explored various symptom management approaches, and had the opportunity to ask questions in a relaxed environment. The event was the first in a planned series of menopause-focused gatherings at the hospital, with additional dates expected to be announced in the near future.

The hospital is also developing a broader calendar for the coming months, covering medical specialities such as orthopaedics and plastic surgery.

Making Specialist Healthcare More Accessible

Rhydian Gierat, head of sales and market engagement at Sancta Maria Hospital, said: “We know that making decisions about your health can sometimes feel overwhelming, particularly when you don’t know what treatment might involve or where to start.”

“These events are about making specialist healthcare more accessible. People can come into the hospital, hear from the consultants who actually diagnose and treat these conditions, ask questions and leave feeling better informed about their options,” Gierat added.

Regular Programme Planned

“Our menopause evening was the first of what we hope will become a regular programme at Sancta Maria. We have more menopause events planned and will also be opening our doors for events covering orthopaedics, plastic surgery and other areas of healthcare over the coming months,” he stated.

Sancta Maria Hospital provides private healthcare services across Swansea, offering consultations, diagnostic tests and surgery for both insured and self-funding patients. Details for upcoming sessions will be published on the hospital's website and social media channels at www.hmtsanctamaria.org.
