Chloe Burgin, a 27-year-old education adviser from Atherstone, Warwickshire, says she "can't win" after undergoing a £2,450 breast reduction in Istanbul – despite enduring years of online abuse over her 36GG chest. Now, just 12 weeks post-surgery, she faces a fresh wave of criticism from trolls who brand her decision "a stupid thing to do".
From 36GG to a New Confidence
Chloe travelled to Istanbul on 11 May for a breast reduction mammoplasty with uplift, during which surgeons removed 1kg of tissue. The two-and-a-half-hour operation cost £2,450 and included a private ensuite room, all pre-op consultations, assessments and tests, plus post-op check-ups and medication. She believes she is now a 34D or 36C, though she hasn't been formally measured yet.
Chloe describes her chest as having always been "a massive insecurity" and says she had contemplated a reduction since her late teens. After receiving a work bonus in January 2026, she decided the time was right. "I thought, 'now's the time'," she said. "It got to the point it was becoming a joke. People would make random comments. It got to the point I genuinely got sick of it."
Years of Trolling and Self-Restriction
Chloe says she attracted constant remarks about her chest on social media, such as "you're never going to hurt your nose if you fall over" or "I doubt you're short of attention with boobs that size". She recalls: "It always used to be, and it sounds bizarre, the first thing people looked at. I got sick of the comments and stuff over the years. There was a lot in life I restricted myself in doing."
She often bought oversized clothing to hide her figure, which made her look bigger than she was. "People thought I was trying to attract attention all the time," she explained. "I would find myself buying oversized clothing which would then make me look bigger than I was. Say if I went out in a vest top like anybody would, people would just say I was getting them out on purpose."
Criticism Continues After Surgery
Even after sharing her reduction experience on TikTok, the criticism persisted. "Even when I booked it, it didn't stop," she said. "People said 'oh people pay thousands for boobs like yours' or 'what a stupid thing to do'. It just knocked me to go out and I would think 'what are people going to say about what I'm wearing'."
Chloe added: "I'd spend a week to find something to wear for an occasion. One time I went to a spa for my sister's hen do and I spent £500 on swimming costumes so I could find ones where my boobs would fit in it."
Cost Breakdown and the Decision to Go Abroad
After receiving an initial quote of £12,500 from a West Midlands clinic, Chloe expanded her search and arranged her procedure through Longevita in Istanbul. "I probably spent a solid month doing research," she said. "I was really happy and they did it all as a package for me. It was £2,450 for the surgery and that included a breast reduction mammoplasty with uplift, pre-op, consultation, assessments and tests. It included a private room, ensuite bathroom for the night for me and my sister and food."
The total cost, including flights, transfers, and accommodation for two people, came to £3,510 – significantly less than the UK quote.
Recovery and a New Outlook
Chloe jetted off to Istanbul with her sister Ella, 25, on 11 May, spending six nights at a five-star resort. Following her procedure on 13 May, she felt well enough to go shopping the next day before returning home on 17 May. "I took it really easy for the first couple of weeks," she says. "I followed the surgeons advice in recovery and it was tip top."
Now, Chloe says she feels "1,000 times better" and her confidence has soared. "Now people say 'you're glowing' and my confidence is so much better. I feel 1,000 times better," she said. "I don't actually have clothes that fit in my wardrobe anymore. Which is weird because I haven't lost a drastic amount of weight. I can wear cute little tops, plunge tops and halter tops. The before and afters in my clothes, the difference is insane. I genuinely think, 'I can put that on and feel great in it' now."
