Elisa Rice, a dedicated team leader from Holmfirth, has been named the winner of the Jordan Carrington Kind Hearted Award, a national accolade celebrating exceptional kindness in social care. The award was presented at a ceremony held at The Queens Hotel in Leeds, recognising individuals who go above and beyond to support others in their daily work.
Recognition for Outstanding Compassion
Elisa works at the Huddersfield Road Young Person Service, operated by national charity Making Space. The Jordan Carrington Kind Hearted Award was established in 2024 to honour the memory of a former colleague, and it celebrates those who demonstrate outstanding care and compassion. Over 250 nominations were submitted from across the organisation's 1,000 staff and 100 volunteers, with Elisa chosen for her constant belief in others and her ability to help young people build confidence and strength.
Career Journey and Service Impact
Elisa originally joined the service as a support worker before being promoted to team leader. She has played a major role in shaping the service since it first opened its doors. The facility supports young people aged 18 to 25 who live with mental health challenges, autism, learning disabilities, or post-traumatic stress disorder. Staff help these young adults build independence and reach their personal goals in a safe environment. Under Elisa's guidance, the service has become a central part of the local community, earning a new five-year contract extension from local decision-makers.
