Eileen Field, a beloved resident at MHA Stones Place care home in Lincoln, celebrated her 100th birthday with a special garden party surrounded by family, friends, staff, and fellow residents. The centenarian welcomed more than 40 visitors to her big day, including the Mayor of Lincoln, Councillor Clare Smalley, and her son Darryl Smalley, the City Sheriff.
A Century of Life
Born in Newark, Eileen has lived at MHA Stones Place for over nine years and is currently the eldest resident at the 42-bed home. To create a festive atmosphere, staff decorated the home with colourful banners and balloons. Guests were treated to delicious cake and cupcakes, alongside entertainment from Eileen's favourite singer, George Papakyriacou.
Celebrations and Tributes
Stacey Morriss, activity coordinator, said: “Eileen had an amazing time celebrating her birthday and was overwhelmed with what had been arranged for her. She was surrounded by her family and friends, including her two sons Roger and Michael and she had a huge smile on her face throughout the day. When George was performing, she was in a great mood and was singing along to the songs he was performing, much to the delight of her family. She received plenty of gifts and flowers including a bouquet from the Mayor of Lincoln and Sam Monaghan, the chief executive of MHA.”
A Popular Resident
Bev Murray, deputy home manager, added: “We call Eileen the Queen of MHA Stones Place. When the family told me what they wanted to do, I suggested the idea of a garden party which they were very happy with. Eileen has been here for a number of years and is a very popular resident. It was wonderful to celebrate her big day with her, we all sang her Happy Birthday, and it really was a wonderful afternoon.”
