A local care home has been filled with music and laughter to celebrate a very special resident’s 100th birthday. Muriel Bloch marked her milestone century at Signature at Hendon Hall surrounded by her family, friends, and the care team. The afternoon featured a lively performance from an Elvis tribute act and a visit from the Mayor of the London Borough of Barnet.
A Life of Service and Family
Muriel was born in the East End of London and was the eighth of ten children in a very large and close family. She spent her career as a hairdresser and even owned her own salon before retiring early to care for her son. Once her children had grown up, Muriel spent much of her time volunteering to help other people in the community.
Muriel still keeps a very busy social life and enjoys playing card games or keeping in touch with her family through social media. When asked about her life, Muriel reflected on what mattered most to her over the last hundred years. Muriel said: “Bringing up my family has been my greatest accomplishment.”
A Heartwarming Celebration
The team at the home described the birthday celebration as a heartwarming day that brought everyone together. Orla Green said: “It has been an absolute privilege to celebrate such a significant milestone with Muriel. She is a truly inspiring lady with a wonderful spirit, and it was heartwarming to see so many people come together to honour her life and achievements. Days like this remind us how special our community here at Hendon Hall really is.”
Muriel celebrated the day by listening to her favourite classical music and spending quality time with her loved ones. She continues to be a much-loved member of the Hendon community with a wonderful spirit that inspires those around her.
