The proposed children's home would occupy a two-storey, four-bedroom detached house with parking space for two cars at the front. The applicant, Mrs Kailey, has partnered with care home operators who possess extensive experience in the field.

Under the plans, the ground floor would be converted into a shared living area featuring a front lounge, a games room, and a rear sun room. On the first floor, two bedrooms would be allocated for the children, while a third bedroom would serve as staff accommodation. A single bathroom would be shared by the children and carers.
Staffing Arrangements
A planning statement accompanying the application outlines the staffing structure: up to three carers would be on-site during the day, including a visiting manager who attends the property weekly. At night, up to two carers would work on a 48-hour shift pattern. The statement emphasises that care would be provided in a communal living environment, with children and carers sharing facilities in a manner comparable to a family household.

The applicant highlights a recognised shortage of care homes in the area, as acknowledged by Solihull Council. The proposal aims to make a modest but meaningful contribution towards meeting this identified social need.
