Dad Claims £2 Poundland Sunscreen Caused Severe Rash

James Daly, a 46-year-old father of two from Four Oaks, Birmingham, claims that a £2 sunscreen purchased from Poundland in Sutton Coldfield caused a severe, painful facial rash with blisters. The former reality TV star, who appeared on Brits Behind Bars, said his face became "very painful" and he experienced a burning sensation.

Daly bought the Sun Oasis lotion from the Poundland store in Mere Green during the recent heatwave. He believes he suffered an allergic reaction to the product, which he had never experienced before with any sunscreen. The rash was so severe that he felt self-conscious and reluctant to leave his home, and he noticed veins appearing on his nose.

Medical Treatment and Calls for Action

Daly visited his GP, who prescribed steroid cream to alleviate the rash. He now plans to see a dermatologist and has called for the product to be removed from shelves. He also sought compensation and warned other parents about the potential dangers. "What if that had been applied by parents to their child?" he said.

"It was very painful and I had a burning feeling and I came out in blisters," Daly told BirminghamLive. "This has never happened to me before."

Poundland's Response

Poundland expressed sympathy but stated that no other similar complaints had been received about the Sun Oasis sunscreen. A spokesperson said the company was "sorry to hear" about Daly's experience and would investigate further if necessary.
