Muscular Dystrophy UK Announces Free Information Day in Birmingham

Muscular Dystrophy UK, the leading charity supporting over 110,000 children and adults across the United Kingdom affected by more than 60 muscle-wasting and weakening conditions, is extending a warm invitation to a complimentary Information Day in Birmingham. This significant event is scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2026, and is open to all individuals living with these conditions, along with their families and carers.

Event Details and Programme

The Information Day will be held at the Edgbaston Park Hotel and Conference Centre, located at 53 Edgbaston Park Road, Birmingham, B15 2RS. It will run from 10:00 AM to 4:15 PM, offering a comprehensive programme designed to provide valuable insights and support. Attendees can look forward to a series of informative talks and discussions focusing on critical topics such as nutrition, exercise, fatigue management, and mental wellbeing. Additionally, the event will feature ample networking opportunities, allowing participants to connect with others who share similar experiences.

Expert Insights and Community Engagement

Participants will have the chance to hear from leading voices in research and healthcare, as well as from individuals with lived experience of muscle-wasting conditions. There will be plenty of time allocated for questions and discussions, enabling attendees to explore the wide range of support services available through Muscular Dystrophy UK. Kyri Photiou, head of helpline and support at Muscular Dystrophy UK, expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating, "We're delighted to host the Information Day and look forward to welcoming people from across Birmingham, the West Midlands, and the rest of the UK. It's a fantastic opportunity for our community to access expert information and support, learn more about our services, and, importantly, connect with others living with muscle wasting or weakening conditions. It's a chance to share tips, advice, and build lasting relationships with peers, ensuring that no one faces their journey alone."

Logistics and Registration

Lunch and refreshments will be provided throughout the day, and accessible facilities, courtesy of Revoloo, will be available onsite to ensure inclusivity for all attendees. However, spaces for this event are limited, so early registration is strongly encouraged. Interested individuals can sign up by visiting musculardystrophyuk.org/Birmingham. The Information Day is part of a broader series of events taking place across the UK, including sessions in York on February 28, 2026, and Scotland on March 28, 2026, with dates for Northern Ireland and Wales to be announced soon.
