All Together NOW! – Liverpool’s trailblazing health and disability newspaper – is celebrating its 21st anniversary in style, thanks to a Big Lottery Community Fund grant.
The free newspaper, a lifeline to tens of thousands across Merseyside who are digitally excluded, has been given £20,000 towards its soaring running costs. The funding is a massive boost and gives the hard-pressed charity a fighting chance of getting through the year.
The summer edition is out next week packed with news and features seldom seen in mainstream newspapers. There’s also four pages of letters from well-wishers, including messages from city council leader Liam Robinson and Lord Mayor, wheelchair user Cllr William Shortall.
Council Leader's Tribute
Councillor Robinson said: “As Liverpool celebrates 21 years of All Together NOW! it is important that we recognise the vital role this publication plays in reaching people who are too often overlooked. For tens of thousands of residents who are digitally excluded, this newspaper is not just a source of information – it is a lifeline that connects them to their community, to opportunities, and to support. As we mark this milestone, I would like to thank everyone involved for their dedication and commitment. At the same time, more support is needed to secure its future. I would encourage partners, organisations and businesses across our region to get behind this invaluable publication, so it can continue to inform, empower and connect our communities for many years to come.”
Lord Mayor's Support
Lord Mayor councillor Shortall said: “All Together NOW! has been a lifeline for 21 remarkable years – championing inclusion, breaking down barriers, and ensuring that tens of thousands of disabled, older and vulnerable residents are not left behind, especially those who remain digitally excluded. This unique, home-grown publication is far more than a newspaper – it is a gateway to independence, confidence and community. I wholeheartedly congratulate everyone involved and encourage partners, businesses and organisations across our region to support its future. Together, we can ensure that All Together NOW! continues to inform, inspire and empower.”
