A nine-year-old boy remains in a critical condition in hospital following a serious two-car collision in Kings Norton on Tuesday evening. Police have confirmed that a 32-year-old man arrested at the scene is still in custody, while a woman who was also detained has been released with no further action.
Boy in Critical Condition After Collision
The collision occurred at approximately 5.55pm on Tuesday, 28 July, at the junction of Masshouse Lane and Shannon Road in Kings Norton. Emergency services, including West Midlands Ambulance Service, attended the scene alongside police. An off-duty nurse who happened to be nearby assisted paramedics in treating the boy, whose heart had stopped and was restarted by the medical teams.
The boy was rushed to hospital, where doctors continue to fight to save his life. The condition of any other individuals involved in the crash has not been disclosed, but police confirmed that no other serious injuries were reported.
Arrests and Investigation
A 32-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving offences and remains in police custody for questioning. A woman also arrested at the scene has been released without charge, and police have stated that she faces no further action. Officers have cordoned off the area and conducted a forensic examination of the scene, with yellow marker cones visible on the road and a police search team combing through long grass on Masshouse Lane for evidence.
