A woman has been rescued from a house fire in Halesowen that broke out in the early hours of Friday, May 8. The blaze, which is believed to have been caused by a tumble dryer, occurred in Quarry Lane.
Firefighters from Haden Cross, Woodbury Valley, and Oldbury stations were dispatched to the scene at 2:34 AM after receiving reports of a fire on the ground floor of a three-storey building. Upon arrival, crews discovered the fire had started in a rear bathroom where a tumble dryer was located.
One woman was rescued from the property and taken to a local hospital for precautionary checks. West Midlands Fire Service urged the public to avoid the area via a post on X at 2:53 AM, stating: "Crews from Haden Cross, Woodgate Valley and Oldbury are in attendance in Quarry Lane, Halesowen, where they have responded to a house fire. Please avoid the area, where possible."
A spokesperson for Staffordshire and West Midlands Fire Control confirmed that firefighters managed to bring the fire under control and left the scene shortly after 5 AM. The cause of the fire is being investigated, but initial indications suggest it was accidental due to the tumble dryer.
West Midlands Ambulance Service has been contacted for further details regarding the woman's condition. No other injuries were reported, and the fire did not spread to neighboring properties.
