Alison Hammond Demonstrates Boxing Prowess Following Major Weight Loss
Alison Hammond has taken to Instagram to share a dynamic video of herself engaging in a high-energy boxing session, offering fans a glimpse into the rigorous workout routine that helps maintain her impressive 11-stone weight loss. The This Morning presenter, aged 51, displayed her slimmed-down physique in a black activewear set during an intense one-on-one training session.
Commitment to a Balanced Lifestyle
Captioning her post with "Yass @themccannic! Same time next week," alongside flame and boxing glove emojis, Hammond expressed her enthusiasm for the challenging exercise. Once weighing 28 stone, she has steadily transformed her lifestyle through a combination of diet, exercise, and consistent wellness practices over five years.
In an interview with Heat magazine, Hammond detailed her exercise regimen: "I've got a personal trainer - she's amazing, she trains me when I can train. If I'm working, I don't train, I'll go for a walk. But when I'm at home, I'll go and have a session with her in the morning, just an hour. It might be four days a week."
Diet and Motivation Behind the Transformation
Her approach to nutrition is equally balanced. Hammond stated: "I don't deny myself anything, I eat everything, but in moderation." Her motivation to overhaul her lifestyle stemmed from health concerns, as she discovered she was pre-diabetic—a condition she has since reversed through healthier eating and exercise choices.
She also credits her late mother, Maria, who passed away in January 2020 from lung and liver cancer, as an influence on her health journey. Beyond boxing, Hammond has incorporated Reformer Pilates into her fitness regime, noting: "You feel absolutely incredible after it. I really need a good stretch - so Reformer Pilates has been brilliant for me."
Diverse Fitness Activities and Personal Insights
Additionally, she attends early-morning circuit classes with Steve Hensel at Blue Zone: "I'll go at 6.30am and do a full hour, it's a proper old-school gym." However, Hammond is cautious about some wellness trends, such as cold plunge pools, which she tried briefly but found too extreme.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, she revealed how she maintains balance while working on The Great British Bake Off, surrounded by tempting treats: "I eat a bit of Paul and Prue’s after they’ve finished judging. I only try the ones that got a handshake from Paul or ones that won. If the judges aren’t impressed, I’m not trying it."
Perspective on Weight-Loss Methods
Hammond has also been open about avoiding weight-loss jabs, telling Good Housekeeping UK: "I think that, for people who need to use them, they're a good thing - but for me, as soon as I hear any scare story, I get frightened. So I haven't wanted to use them, but that's not to say I wouldn't in the future, and I certainly wouldn't look down on anyone who did."
This comprehensive approach underscores her dedication to a sustainable and healthy lifestyle, inspiring many with her journey and ongoing fitness efforts.
