Birmingham Mother and Daughter Lose Over 12 Stone Together

A mother and daughter from Birmingham have shed a combined total of over 12 stone after joining a local slimming group, dramatically improving their health and wellbeing.

Journey to a Healthier Lifestyle

Natalie, 38, and her 18-year-old daughter, Mia, from Kingstanding, decided to take control of their weight after struggling with unhealthy eating habits. They joined a Slimming World group in Erdington and have since lost 7 stone and 5 stone respectively.

Natalie said: "We used to eat takeaways three or four times a week and snack on crisps and chocolate. We both felt tired and lacked confidence. Now we have so much more energy and feel amazing."

Support and Motivation

The pair attend weekly group sessions together, which they say keeps them motivated. Mia added: "Having my mum alongside me makes it easier. We encourage each other when we feel like giving up. The group is like a second family."

Their consultant, Lisa, praised their dedication: "They are an inspiration to others. Their hard work has paid off, and they are both glowing with health."

Impact on Daily Life

Natalie, a teaching assistant, said she no longer avoids social events due to her weight. "I used to hide from photos. Now I love getting dressed up and going out. My confidence has soared."

Mia, a student, said her new lifestyle has improved her studies. "I can concentrate better and feel more positive about the future."

Encouraging Others

The mother-daughter duo hope their story inspires other families to make healthy changes. "If we can do it, anyone can. It's not about dieting; it's about changing your relationship with food," Natalie said.

The Slimming World group meets weekly at St Mary's Church in Erdington. New members are welcome to join at any time.
