The Traitors' Harriet Tyce reveals four-stone weight loss after quitting alcohol
Traitors star Harriet Tyce sheds four stone after ditching booze

The Traitors star and crime writer Harriet Tyce has shared the dramatic story behind her incredible four-stone weight loss, attributing it to a life-changing decision to give up alcohol.

A Sobering Decision for a Healthier Life

The 53-year-old Faithful, who was banished from the fourth series of the hit BBC show, decided to quit drinking in June 2022. She candidly explained that the habit was 'ruining her life' and causing her to become a 'terrible barrister' in her previous career.

In a series of honest Instagram posts featuring before-and-after photos, Harriet highlighted the profound impact of her sober lifestyle. One poignant caption read, '53. More confident, happier in my skin. Grateful to be here.' Another simply stated, 'If you want an advert for giving up booze…'

From 'Sniper's Alley' to a New Chapter

Harriet previously detailed her battle with alcohol in a first-person piece for The Observer in 2024. She confessed to systematically sabotaging herself, turning up to work hungover and falling over in chambers. While crime writing might seem a profession for drinkers, she found alcohol still occupied too much mental space.

She referenced a quote from the late Ozzy Osbourne about people either giving up at 50 or being dead by 60, calling this period 'sniper's alley'. Harriet stated this was a last chance to make changes, having seen friends succumb to addiction. Her new regimen includes yoga, weights, running, and considering cold-water swimming.

Pride in Perseverance and a Traitors Legacy

Reflecting on her journey two years after writing her Observer piece, Harriet expressed immense pride in sticking to her decision. 'The achievement that really counts for me is that I kept on keeping on with not drinking,' she said. She noted she is happier now and that losing four stone is 'a lot easier on my aging knees!'

On The Traitors, the sharp-minded author shot to fame during the 2026 series. She famously gunned for fellow player Rachel, accusing her of being a Traitor, but was ultimately banished after her accusations were rejected. Fans have since hailed her as one of the 'best Faithful ever' for her sacrificial play.

Harriet continues her successful writing career, with her fourth crime novel soon to be released, embracing her fitter, healthier, and sober fifties.
