Wet n Wild Eyeliner Recalled Over Chemical Risk Days Before Christmas
Makeup Recall: Wet n Wild Eyeliner Poses Chemical Risk

An urgent product recall has been issued for a popular makeup item just days before the festive season, with safety officials warning of a serious chemical risk.

Recall Details and Chemical Hazard

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has ordered the immediate recall of the Wet n Wild Proline Felt Tip Eyeliner. The product, sold at high-street pharmacy chain Boots, was found to contain an excessive concentration of a specific chemical pigment.

Testing revealed the eyeliner contains 11.5 per cent Carbon Black (nano) colour pigment. This exceeds the maximum permitted concentration of 10 per cent set out in EU cosmetics regulation, specifically Regulation (EC) 1223/2009. Consequently, the product is deemed non-compliant and poses a potential health risk to consumers.

How to Identify the Affected Product

Shoppers are urged to check their makeup bags immediately. The recalled item is a black felt tip-style eyeliner in black packaging. The critical identification codes are:

  • Barcode (EAN): 4049775587527
  • Model/Reference Number: E8752

Affected products have been on sale since August 2022, and the OPSS has confirmed that all batches are included in this recall.

What Consumers Must Do Now

The OPSS has advised all owners of the eyeliner to stop using the product immediately. Consumers should return the item to their nearest Boots store, or other point of sale, to receive a full refund.

For further official information, customers are directed to visit markwins.eu/news. This action follows an earlier voluntary recall notice issued by Boots and the product's manufacturer, Markwins Beauty Brands INTL Ltd, in November 2025, which cited the same regulatory non-compliance.

This last-minute recall serves as a stark reminder for consumers to remain vigilant about product safety notices, especially during periods of high retail activity like Christmas.
