Sandwell Council's Reform Leader and Cabinet Confirmed

Reform's Ray Nock has been confirmed as the new leader of Sandwell Council, marking the first time the party has taken control of the authority. The historic win earlier this month ended Labour's grip on power, which had lasted since 1979.

Following a successful vote at the council's annual meeting on Tuesday, May 26, Cllr Nock expressed his honor to serve the borough. "It's such an honour to serve the people of the borough," he said. "A borough where I was born, grew up, worked and later helped educate our young folk for the challenges of the future. I care deeply about Sandwell and truly believe we have a bright future ahead."

Historic Election Win

Reform secured 41 seats on Sandwell Council in the recent elections, while Labour dropped from 60 seats to 28. The losses included former council leader Kerrie Carmichael. The vote for Cllr Nock to be appointed leader passed with 36 votes in favor and 27 against.
