Halifax confirms Lloyds app migration over coming months

Halifax has confirmed changes that some customers will see over the coming months, as the bank transitions its branding to Lloyds. The bank, which has branches in Birmingham, responded to a concerned account holder on X, formerly Twitter, who asked: "When is the Halifax banking being transferred to Lloyds? I hope the app improves, as it's the slowest to open I've experienced… Halifax, Lloyds and BOS, all chronically slow."

Brand change only, no impact on day-to-day banking

Halifax said: "This is a brand change only, so there's no change to your day-to-day banking relationship. Halifax's customers will be invited to move to the Lloyds app and Online Banking in stages over the coming months. There's no action needed until you receive your invitation. Your account details, payments, and banking services will remain the same."

Guidance on the Halifax website

Guidance on the Halifax website explains: "Over the next few months, we'll be in touch to move you to the Lloyds app and online banking as we'll be closing these for Halifax. They work in a similar way so should feel familiar and just as easy to use. We'll send you an invitation in the app and online banking, so you’ll know it’s from us. It'll guide you through the process in just a few easy steps, with no passwords or memorable details to set up. We'll also email you around the time the invite will appear, so you don’t miss it."

Lloyds consumer relations boss comments

Lloyds’ consumer relations boss, Jas Singh, said: “As Halifax changes to Lloyds, our Halifax customers will keep everything they know and love today – the same fantastic app design, the same friendly faces in our branches – even the same sort code and account number. But as Lloyds customers, they’ll get the best innovation and experiences we offer. Our Lloyds customers are already benefiting from a significant investment into propositions like Club Lloyds, Lloyds Premier, Lloyds Ultra and Lloyds Rewards – and now we’re really excited that Halifax customers can bank on Lloyds for more.”
