Epstein Files Reveal New Photo of Andrew Windsor with Ghislaine Maxwell
New Epstein photo shows Andrew Windsor with Ghislaine Maxwell

A newly released photograph from the Jeffrey Epstein case has placed the former royal, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, back in the spotlight. The image, part of a tranche of documents made public by the U.S. Department of Justice, shows a controversial scene from the past.

Details of the Revealed Photograph

The black and white picture, released on December 19, 2025, depicts Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly the Duke of York, lying across the laps of five individuals whose identities remain concealed. Standing behind the group is a grinning Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted child sex offender currently serving a 20-year prison sentence. The faces of six other people in the image have been redacted.

This visual evidence emerges from the extensive Epstein files, which have named or pictured numerous notable figures. It is crucial to note that inclusion in these files does not in itself imply any wrongdoing.

A Friendship and Its Consequences

Andrew's association with the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein began in the late 1990s. Epstein was a guest at parties hosted by the royal at both Windsor Castle and the Sandringham estate. This friendship ultimately led to serious allegations from Virginia Giuffre, who claimed she was trafficked by Epstein and forced into sexual encounters with the royal while she was a minor. Andrew has consistently and vigorously denied all accusations made against him.

The connection proved devastating to his public role. In October of this year, Andrew issued a statement arguing that the allegations distracted from the work of the monarchy. Shortly thereafter, King Charles III stripped him of his royal titles, styles, and military honours. Andrew stated he would "no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me."

The Epstein Case: A Timeline of Justice

The saga of Jeffrey Epstein's crimes is long and complex. Law enforcement in Palm Beach, Florida, first investigated him in 2005 after a 14-year-old girl reported being molested at his mansion. The FBI later joined, gathering testimony from multiple underage girls who said they were hired to give Epstein sexual massages.

Despite the evidence, Epstein initially avoided federal prosecution through a controversial plea deal. He pleaded guilty to state prostitution charges in 2008 and served 18 months in jail. His accusers, including Ms Giuffre, spent years in civil court trying to overturn this deal.

Federal prosecutors in New York brought new sex trafficking charges against Epstein in 2019, but he died by suicide in jail a month after his arrest. The focus then shifted to his associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted in late 2021 for recruiting underage girls for Epstein to abuse. She is now serving her 20-year sentence.

Tragically, Virginia Giuffre died by suicide at her farm in Western Australia in April 2025, aged 41. While prosecutors never brought charges related to her specific claims against Andrew and others, her account fueled widespread speculation. The U.S. Justice Department stated in July 2025 that it had not found sufficient information to prosecute anyone else in connection with the case.
