York Princesses to Miss Royal Easter Service at Windsor
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie will not be joining the royal family for the annual Easter Service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor this Sunday. Despite their absence, royal sources have strongly emphasized that the sisters are not excluded from the royal circle.
Instead, they have made alternative plans for the Easter weekend, which have been agreed upon and understood by King Charles III. The service will see the King and Queen in attendance, as reported by various media outlets.
Future Family Celebrations Still on the Agenda
A royal source confirmed that Beatrice, aged 37, and Eugenie, aged 36, are expected to attend future family celebrations. This assurance comes amid ongoing scrutiny of their position within the royal family.
The daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson have faced challenges due to their parents' association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Many observers believe the sisters have been impacted by the scandal, especially following the release of the Epstein files by the US Department of Justice earlier this year.
Maintaining a Low Profile Amid Family Turmoil
Unlike their parents, the King has permitted Beatrice and Eugenie to retain their royal titles. However, they have maintained a low profile since their father's arrest last month on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
The decision to distance themselves from high-profile royal events follows reports suggesting they might not be welcome at Royal Ascot this June and other significant gatherings.
Royal Family Proceeds with Easter Traditions
The King and Queen will be joined by other members of the royal family for the annual Easter Matins Service. They will walk from Windsor Castle to the chapel and, after the service, often stop to greet well-wishers gathered on the grounds.
Beatrice and Eugenie were previously included in royal family Christmas celebrations at Sandringham last December, attending church on Christmas morning with the King, Queen, and other senior royals. This occurred before the release of the Epstein files.
Ongoing Family Challenges
Prince Andrew, who moved to the Sandringham estate earlier this year, has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing. He was arrested in February and detailed by police for 11 hours.
His ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, has not been seen in public since December, when she attended the christening of her granddaughter in London.
