Fire crews rushed to a Birmingham city centre apartment block this evening after residents reported a burning smell. The incident occurred at 58 Sheepcote Street, a short walk from Broad Street, prompting an evacuation of the building.

Response and Evacuation

Four fire trucks and a support vehicle were dispatched to the scene. Residents were evacuated from the high-rise building while firefighters conducted internal checks. No injuries were reported, and no fire hoses or other equipment were deployed as concerned residents watched calmly from outside.

All Clear Given

A small crowd gathered outside, awaiting updates from crews. After the trucks left, several fire personnel remained on site for further inspections. Residents were allowed back into the building at approximately 5:50pm. West Midlands Fire Service was approached for comment but had not responded at the time of reporting.
