West Midlands Police have confirmed that a motorcyclist in his 60s has died following a single-vehicle collision on Mackadown Lane in Kitts Green, Birmingham. Emergency services were called to the scene at the junction of St Giles Road just after 5.50am on Monday, 22 June 2026.
Details of the Incident
West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) dispatched an ambulance, a paramedic officer, and a MERIT trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic to the scene. Upon arrival, crews found the man in a critical condition and immediately began administering advanced life support. He was then taken under emergency driving conditions to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later despite the best efforts of medical staff.
WMAS stated: "We were called to reports of a single motorbike RTC on Mackadown Lane in Kitts Green at 5.51am and sent an ambulance, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic to the scene."
Police Investigation and Appeal
West Midlands Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the collision. The victim's family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers. The police force has issued an appeal for anyone who was in the area at the time and has dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.
WMP said: "We are appealing for information after a man sadly died in a collision in Tile Cross, Birmingham. We were called to Mackadown Lane at the junction of St Giles Road at around 5.55am this morning (Monday) to reports of a single vehicle collision. The motorcyclist, a man in his 60s, was found seriously injured. He was taken to hospital where he sadly died. His family has been informed and are being supported at this difficult time. Enquiries are underway to establish the exact circumstances of the collision."
Road Reopened and Bus Services Restored
Mackadown Lane has since reopened, and bus services have been restored to their normal routes. The road was sealed off for several hours while forensic investigations were carried out.
