A woman has died and a man is receiving medical treatment following a serious collision on the M6 motorway in the West Midlands. The incident occurred on the northbound carriageway between junctions 5 and 6, near Castle Bromwich, at around 1:30am on Sunday, September 24.

Emergency services were called to the scene after a black Volkswagen Golf left the carriageway and struck a tree. The female passenger, aged in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver, also in his 20s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.
