Today, voters in Cannock Chase, Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall, and Wolverhampton go to the polls in what could be the biggest test of public opinion since the General Election two years ago.
Significance of the Elections
The elections are particularly significant in the West Midlands, providing the first clear measure of party performance in key bellwether areas and offering Reform a chance to gain control of their first major councils.
A total of 191 seats are contested. Sandwell and Walsall hold ‘all-up’ elections, with every seat up for grabs, while Cannock Chase, Dudley, and Wolverhampton will elect a third of their seats, plus one additional seat in each due to a resignation.
Voting Information
Voters across England are being urged to remember that they will need to bring an accepted form of photo ID to the polling station to vote in the elections. Polling stations are open from 7am until 10pm.
