Individuals aged 60 or over are entitled to free NHS prescriptions and sight tests. Those under 18 or under 19 in full-time education also receive free NHS dental treatment. For those with an annual prepayment certificate, savings can reach £114.50. Claimants of means-tested benefits are also eligible for free prescriptions and other health costs.
National Insurance Exemption Worth £1,851
Upon reaching State Pension age, individuals stop paying National Insurance contributions, even if still working. For someone earning an average of £687 per week, the annual saving is £1,851. For example, a person earning £40,000 would pay £2,194 in Class 1 contributions, while someone on £20,000 pays £594.
