I'm A Celeb Chaos: Shona Axed as Leader in Butter Scandal
I'm A Celeb leader dethroned in butter scandal

Drama has erupted in the I'm A Celebrity camp after a rule-breaking incident involving contraband butter led to the dethroning of camp leader, Shona McGarty.

The Rule Breach and Confession

The EastEnders actress was caught on camera using the illicit butter, a clear violation of the ITV show's strict rules. After being summoned by producers on November 30, 2025, a nervous McGarty confessed to her campmates, pleading, 'please don't hate me'.

She then read aloud a letter from the production team outlining her transgression. The letter stated: "Shona, there is contraband in camp. As a leader you are responsible for the smooth running of camp and ensuring the rules are not broken. You now have a choice. You either step down as leader..."

Her reading was interrupted by the horrified reactions of her fellow celebrities, to which she admitted, "I used it. I found some butter in the trunk."

Campmate Backlash and Speculation

Speaking directly to the camera, McGarty denied smuggling the item into the Australian jungle herself, insisting, "I don't know where it came from, true story. But I saw it and my eyes lit up and I used it."

This did little to calm the fury of her campmates. The group quickly began speculating that Alex Scott, who had previously been punished for smuggling in salt, might also be behind the butter. Kelly Brook was particularly incensed, fuming, "She didn't even share it! Someone else took the risk and then she used it!"

The atmosphere turned openly hostile as the camp started a unified chant of 'dethrone, dethrone, dethrone'. A sheepish McGarty revealed she had already stepped down, but the punishment did not end there.

Fallout and a New Leader

Campmates Haitch and Angry Ginge expressed their deep disappointment. Haitch declared, "I don't want to look at her, I'm not going to talk to her for the rest of this." Angry Ginge agreed, adding, "I'm not even going to breathe in her direction."

With the leadership position vacant, the group held a vote and elected Ruby Wax as their new camp leader. As an additional penalty, Shona McGarty was locked in the phone box, marking a dramatic fall from grace for the former leader.
