I'm A Celebrity fans split over Ruby Wax's 'annoying' jungle entrance
I'm A Celebrity fans divided over Ruby Wax comments

The latest series of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! has already sparked its first major controversy, with veteran television presenter Ruby Wax leaving the British public deeply divided after her jungle debut.

A Divisive Entrance

Ruby Wax, the 72-year-old known for her work in comedy, presenting, and writing, entered the Australian jungle on Sunday, November 16. She joined campmates including Lioness Alex Scott, actress Lisa Riley, television personality Jack Osbourne, and content creator Angry Ginge.

It was her immediate interactions with the latter, however, that quickly set social media alight and created a clear split in audience opinion.

The Comments That Ruffled Feathers

The tension began during the initial introductions. When Angry Ginge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, was asked what the group should call him, he offered "Ginge or Morgan."

Ruby Wax swiftly retorted, "We'll never call you that." The exchange escalated when Ginge revealed his surname. Upon hearing "Burtwistle," Ruby quipped, "Oh, I see why you changed it. It's so not cool."

Later in the episode, the presenter continued her pointed remarks, telling Ginge to "get out of [her] way" in front of the cameras. She joked, yet with a firm tone, "Don't ever in this show get in my way. Do you understand? Especially when there's a light. You're in my light again. I'll just be moving you throughout the show, okay?"

Viewer Reaction: Love Her or Loathe Her

The British viewing public has been left completely polarised by Ruby's behaviour. On one side, a significant number of fans have expressed their frustration, with some creating viral TikToks to voice their displeasure.

One TikTok creator, @m4xrose, posted a video captioned, "If I heard that woman speak one more time," which amassed a huge 83,000 likes. The comments section became a hub for critical viewers.

One user wrote, "'Don't ever in this show get in my way,' THE ATTITUDE FROM THIS WOMAN OH MY LORD." Another simply stated, "She is going to be so annoying!"

However, a strong contingent of viewers rushed to Ruby's defence, attributing the friction to her signature sarcastic humour. One supporter commented, "Clearly the younger ones don't get her sarcasm."

Another said, "There's nothing wrong with Ruby she's hilarious," while a third declared, "No she's such a queen I love her."

I'm A Celebrity....Get Me Out of Here! continues nightly at 9pm on ITV1, STV, ITVX and STV Player.
