Former EastEnders star Shona McGarty has found herself in hot water on ITV's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, after viewers and campmates accused her of shirking her responsibilities.
The Unpacked Revelation
A damning clip from the show's Unpacked spin-off has cast doubt on Shona's contribution to camp life. She is supposed to share the crucial water duty with model and actress Kelly Brook, a role that involves constant fetching, boiling, and carrying heavy water containers.
However, the footage presented a one-sided picture. Kelly Brook was seen repeatedly undertaking the strenuous task alone, carrying water through the camp while Shona appeared absent from the chore. In the Bush Telegraph, Kelly emphasised the difficulty of the job, calling it "one of the harder jobs" due to the "lot of carrying and heavy lifting."
Campmates Confront the Situation
The tension came to a head when fellow celebrities Ruby Wax and Lisa Snowdon directly questioned Shona's involvement. Ruby was heard stating, "I've never seen Shona do the water," with Lisa immediately agreeing, "No, I'm totally with you."
When confronted, Shona insisted she had been helping, claiming, "I was doing the weights up the stairs." This defence was immediately undermined by further footage showing Kelly carrying water up to the camp at night while Shona was fast asleep.
Viewer Backlash and Predictions
The unfolding drama did not go unnoticed by the show's audience, who took to social media to voice their opinions. One viewer accused Shona of "LYING" and declared she "hasn’t lifted a FINGER." Another expressed surprise that Kelly hadn't "kicked off" about the unequal division of labour.
Comments such as "Shona sleeping when she’s meant to be doing the water" and "Oh dear Shona rumbled" were commonplace, with many predicting a significant camp fallout is now inevitable.
This controversy comes after a dramatic week in the jungle, which saw the camp evacuated due to a horror storm and the announcement that live trials are returning to the show for the first time since 2019.
