Television legend Ruby Wax OBE is set to face her fears as she enters the Australian jungle for I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! 2025. The renowned comedian and interviewer joins a camp including former England footballer Alex Scott and 80s pop star Martin Kemp, hoping to be crowned Queen of the Jungle.
Ahead of her jungle debut, the 72-year-old shared her characteristically candid apprehensions. "I don't know what to expect until I'm there," she admitted. "Then I might have a heart attack. If you threw me out of a helicopter, I'll probably s---- myself." She was particularly vocal about the culinary and creepy-crawly challenges, stating firmly, "I really don't want to eat the food. I don't want to sleep with snakes, and I will not be penetrated by a spider."
From Actress to Acclaimed Interviewer
Ruby Wax's path to national treasure status began with acting. She studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in the 1970s before appearing in shows like Girls on Top and films including Chariots of Fire. Her work as a script editor on the iconic Absolutely Fabulous further cemented her place in British comedy.
Her career-defining moment came in the 1990s with her groundbreaking interview series, When Ruby Wax Met.... The show featured no-holds-barred conversations with some of the world's biggest names, including Madonna, O.J. Simpson, and Jim Carrey, making her a household name.
Mental Health Advocacy and Family Life
Following a personal battle with depression, Ruby put her television career on hold to become a powerful mental health advocate. Drawing from her own experiences, she has become a best-selling author and a sought-after speaker, using her platform to destigmatise mental health issues.
On the home front, Ruby has been married to film and TV director Ed Bye for 37 years. She was previously married to Andrew Porter for three years. In a past interview, she humorously revealed that the secret to her long-lasting marriage with Ed involves "spending weeks away" from him and not "bringing him dinner".
The couple have three children together: Marina, Max, and Madeline Bye. Her daughters once revealed that life in the Wax-Bye household was always entertaining, noting, "In our family, we had to be witty from the start."
Born in Illinois, USA, Ruby has made the UK her home since the 1970s and holds dual citizenship. As the oldest contestant in this year's lineup, her journey into the jungle promises to be one of the most watched storylines of I'm A Celebrity 2025.
