The date of the next UK heatwave has been announced, with forecasts indicating a two-week scorcher beginning around Monday, June 15. After a drab start to June, the UK is expected to warm up significantly from the second half of the month, bringing dry and settled conditions.
Forecast Details
According to the Met Office, high pressure will dominate from mid-June, leading to above-average temperatures and very warm spells. Becky Mitchell, Met Office meteorologist, stated: “For the first half of June, temperatures will be around average. But there are signs that towards the second half of June they may start to rise again, although it is too early to say it with any confidence at the moment.”
Potential for 40C
Jim Dale of British Weather Services supports the prospect of a prolonged heatwave, noting that 40C is not off the table for the UK this summer. The Met Office's forecast for June 4 to June 13 indicates continued influence of Atlantic low pressure systems, bringing showers and rain across the UK, with drier conditions more likely in the south and east.
From June 14 onwards, the outlook suggests drier and more settled weather as high pressure becomes dominant, though showery interludes remain possible. Towards the end of the month, conditions may turn more mixed again.

Temperatures are expected to trend above average as June progresses, with very warm spells possible in places. Eastern areas are likely to see the warmest spots, while western parts may experience breezy conditions, especially near coasts.
