Nigel Farage has shared footage of a woman who allegedly wound down her car window to swear at him before crashing into a BMW moments later. The incident occurred during the Reform UK leader's visit to Clacton in Essex on Tuesday evening.
What Happened
The Vauxhall driver appeared to shout abuse out of her window at Farage before running into the back of a BMW that had stopped at a red light. Posting the footage on X, Farage said: 'This lady shouted abuse at me and then crashed her own car. That’s what you might call instant karma!'
Previous Incident
This is not the first time Farage has faced hostility in Clacton. In 2024, he was doused with a McDonald’s banana milkshake outside a pub after announcing he would stand for election in the constituency.
Security and By-Election
Reform UK MPs are now being given round-the-clock security protection following the death of Ann Widdecombe. Farage will face a record 33 rival candidates in the by-election he triggered in protest at media and parliamentary scrutiny of his finances and backers.
The main Westminster parties are boycotting the Clacton by-election, dismissing it as a stunt by the Reform UK leader. This leaves joke candidate Count Binface and actor-turned-politician Laurence Fox as his highest-profile opponents. Farage wanted the contest to be a 'people versus the establishment' showdown, but he now faces opponents including three from the Official Monster Raving Loony Party and an array of independents.
