Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council has temporarily closed five public rights of way near Kingswinford and Himley, citing public safety risks. The order, which took effect on September 25, will remain in force until March 4, 2027, or until the relevant works are completed, whichever comes first.
Affected routes and restrictions
The closures cover Restricted Byway SEDRB63, running along its full length from Himley Road to its junction with Public Footpath SED63H2. Public Footpath SED63H2 is also closed entirely, from its junction with the restricted byway to the borough boundary.
Additionally, Public Footpath BRH0516 is closed from Oak Lane to its junction with Public Footpath BRH0008. Public Footpath BRH0008 is closed from its junction with BRH0516 to its junction with public footpath SEDRB63. Public Footpath BRH0007 is closed along its full length from Oak Lane to the Crooked House site at the borough boundary.
Reason for the closures
The council stated that the restrictions are necessary because of the risk of danger to the public on or near the affected rights of way. The new order continues restrictions already in place under a notice that became operational on September 4.
According to the council, no diversion route for pedestrians is required. Access to frontages and for emergency vehicles will be maintained where it is safe to do so.

The order has been issued under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The maximum duration of the order is six months, and the notice does not specify when the works are expected to finish.
