Rossendale Borough Council has registered several planning applications for the week ending Friday, July 17. The submissions include a notable change of use from a nursing home to a special school, along with flood management and tree preservation works.
Change of Use: Nursing Home to Special School
A full application has been submitted for the change of use from a nursing home (C2) to a special school (F1) at Ashlands, Turnpike, Newchurch, Rossendale. This proposal aims to repurpose the existing facility to serve educational needs.
Approval of Details for Ground Investigation
An application seeks approval of details reserved by condition 5 (ground investigation) pursuant to planning approval 2023/0103 at All Saints RC Language College, Haslingden Road, Rawtenstall, Rossendale. This step is necessary to ensure the site's suitability for development.
Natural Flood Management Interventions
Plans have been submitted for the construction of a suite of Natural Flood Management (NFM) interventions at Far Bank Top Farm, Bank Top, Burnley Road East, Waterfoot, Rossendale. These measures are designed to reduce flood risk to communities downstream by slowing the flow and attenuating water in the upper catchment before it reaches locations where properties are at risk of flooding.
Tree Works Under TPO
An application details works to trees within TPO No 2 of 2017 at Venomous View, Lodge Lane, Bacup. The proposed works include: 1. Removal of overhanging branches of a multi-stemmed goat willow tree to ensure safe pedestrian access and use of the garden area. 2. Crown lift and removal of overhanging branches of a lime tree to form safe pedestrian access into the garden. 3. Removal of overhanging branches of a goat willow tree to allow safe pedestrian access into the rear garden (overhanging steps area). No replacement trees are proposed as no trees are being removed.
These applications are part of the ongoing development and maintenance activities within the Rossendale area, reflecting the council's commitment to managing land use, environmental protection, and community safety.
