Heatwave Returns to Birmingham: Met Office Forecasts 28°C

The Met Office has confirmed the exact date the heatwave will return to Birmingham, with temperatures set to climb back to 28°C on Monday, July 6, and potentially even higher as the week progresses.

After a brutally hot spell last week when the mercury hit nearly 40°C in the Midlands, temperatures have dropped to a much more tolerable 22°C as of June 30. The cooler weather is expected to persist for much of the week, with Wednesday to Sunday hovering between 23°C and 25°C.

Weekend Warm-Up

However, the weekend will see skies quickly heat up. According to the Met Office's long-range forecast for Saturday, July 4, to Monday, July 13, high pressure will dominate across England and Wales, bringing dry and warm conditions with plenty of sunshine. Scotland and Northern Ireland will likely see more cloud and periods of rain, mainly affecting western Scotland.

By Monday, July 6, temperatures in Birmingham will reach 28°C again, and they could grow even higher as the week continues. The Met Office states: "Temperatures will rise through the period, perhaps becoming very warm or hot in places."

Mid-July Outlook

From mid-July, high pressure is more likely than low pressure, bringing a greater chance of settled and drier conditions. Occasionally, this dry and warm weather could be interrupted by outbreaks of rain with stronger winds, most likely further north. As is typical for the time of year, there remains a risk of heavy, thundery showers during any warm spells.

Towards the end of July, there is a slight preference for a continuation of high pressure to dominate, though confidence at this range is low. In any case, temperatures are likely to be above average overall, with a greater than normal chance of hot conditions developing at times.
