White House officials have issued a stark warning to Iran, declaring that President Donald Trump stands ready to dramatically escalate military action if Tehran refuses to meet Washington's demands. This warning comes despite ongoing diplomatic talks and the existence of a reported 15-point plan aimed at concluding the conflict.
Defiant Stance from the White House
During a press briefing, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt struck a defiant tone, insisting that US forces continue to "decimate" Iranian military capabilities. She specifically hailed Operation Epic Fury as a "resounding military triumph," underscoring the administration's confidence in its military strategy.
"President Trump does not bluff and he is prepared to unleash hell. Iran should not miscalculate again," Leavitt stated emphatically. She referenced previous Iranian losses, noting that their last miscalculation cost them senior leadership, naval assets, air force capabilities, and air defense systems.
Ceasefire Plan and Negotiations
While confirming that talks between the US and Iran are continuing, Leavitt dismissed suggestions of an impasse. However, she declined to delve into the specific details of the negotiations, describing them as the "nitty gritty."
Addressing media reports about a 15-point ceasefire plan drafted by the US, Leavitt acknowledged that "there are elements of truth" in the coverage but cautioned that not every published detail has been "entirely factual." Iranian state media has previously labeled US demands as "excessive" and asserted that Iran will conclude the war on its own terms.
Military Posturing and Hypotheticals
When questioned about the potential deployment of ground troops if talks fail, Leavitt declined to comment directly. "Look, that's a hypothetical question—it's also a decision that will have to be made by the commander in chief, and I'm not going to get ahead of him," she told reporters.
This statement follows the recent deployment of over 1,000 additional troops from the 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East, approved by President Trump. This military reinforcement occurs alongside increasing presidential rhetoric about pursuing peace, highlighting the complex and tense nature of the current situation.
Leavitt concluded with a clear ultimatum, warning that any further violence would be a direct result of the Iranian regime's refusal to understand the US position. She asserted that President Trump "will ensure they are hit harder than they have ever been hit before" should Iran resist the terms being presented.
