Work has begun transforming an empty unit on Link Street, the stretch of shops connecting Bullring and Grand Central in Birmingham. Signs have appeared at the unit beside jeweller Warren James, proclaiming 'something exciting is baking'.
What is 'Ready Steady Make It'?
The signage reveals that a company called 'Ready Steady Make It' is moving in, featuring illustrations of mixers, rolling pins, and ingredients. This suggests a new venue where visitors can try their hand at baking. The sign reads: 'A new baking experience event for friends, couples, parties and team days.' The website is not yet populated, and social media pages are inactive, but the sign indicates an 'experience'. The website states the venue will open in autumn, adding: 'We're mixing up something brand new in Birmingham.'
Existing Baking Venue in Digbeth
Birmingham already has a baking experience venue in Digbeth. Big Bake Birmingham, with five UK venues including one on Floodgate Street, allows visitors to bake goodies in pairs under a head baker's supervision. It features 12 bake stations and provides all necessary equipment for a Great British Bake-off style experience.
Link Street's Leisure Offerings
Passers-by on Link Street have been invited to sign up for more information about Ready Steady Make It. When open, it will join other leisure spaces on Link Street such as Lane 7 and Toca Social. This week, new Grand Central restaurant Sushi Tachi removed hoarding near Link Street, revealing its frontage. The sushi joint will open to customers on Monday, July 20.
Sushi Tachi's Arrival
In a statement, Sushi Tachi said: 'London, we love you, but it’s time to take this show up the M40! We are incredibly hyped to announce that we are officially opening our first-ever shop outside of the capital. On July 20, we're setting up home right in the heart of Birmingham at Grand Central! Whether you've been a fan from afar or are about to discover your new obsession, we can’t wait to welcome you.'
