Aston Villa 2026/27 Fixtures: Key Challenges and Talking Points

Aston Villa's fixtures for the 2026/27 Premier League season have been released, with a trip to Brighton kicking things off. Unai Emery's side then take on Arsenal at home before travelling to Hull City. They will then play their first Champions League fixture, before hosting Nottingham Forest and travelling to Tottenham.

Villa will end the season at home against Tottenham, after facing Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in their penultimate league fixture. Here are some talking points from Villa's fixture list.

The tricky runs

Last season, Villa failed to win any of their opening five matches despite being handed what Opta described as the 'easiest' start of any team in the division. With that in mind, it's worth taking any run of games with a pinch of salt, especially as Villa beat Liverpool and Manchester City at the end of the last campaign, with a Europa League final in between. However, looking at Villa's fixtures - albeit with the transfer window only just open - there doesn't appear to be a particularly daunting run of matches.

Perhaps the toughest spell comes at the back end of December and into January, when Villa face Liverpool (H), Bournemouth (A), Everton (A), Manchester United (H), and Fulham (A). The final stretch of the season also looks challenging, with matches against Crystal Palace (A), Brentford (A), Newcastle (H), Manchester City (A), and Tottenham (H).

The newly promoted clubs

Villa will play away against Hull City, Ipswich Town, and Coventry City before hosting them in the second half of the campaign. The trip to Hull is Villa's second away match of the season and their third fixture overall, while the Ipswich match is scheduled for November 28. Villa's first league match against Coventry since their relegation 34 years ago is currently scheduled for December 12. Emery's team will then host Ipswich on January 30, Hull on March 13, and Coventry on April 24.

The midweek fixtures

Although many of Villa's fixtures are subject to change, the full list shows which matches are scheduled for midweek. The first midweek round appears to fall on December 2, when Villa host Everton at Villa Park. The second, on December 30, is against Liverpool - although this could change due to broadcast selections during the festive period. Villa then travel to Everton on January 6, which is also scheduled as a midweek fixture, as are the home match against Bournemouth on February 10 and the trip to Anfield to face Liverpool on March 3.

The 'big six' fixtures

Here's when Villa will face the league's big commercial six teams, who are already having fun in the transfer market: Arsenal (H) August 29, (A) April 17; Manchester City (H) October 24, (A) May 23; Manchester United (A) November 7, (H) January 16; Liverpool (H) December 30, (A) March 3; Chelsea (A) December 19, (H) February 27; Tottenham (A) September 19, (H) May 30.
