Aston Villa have been linked with a summer move for Nottingham Forest defender Neco Williams, with reports indicating that the club has made 'discreet enquiries' regarding the Welsh full-back's availability.
According to the BBC, Villa are among several Premier League clubs monitoring Williams, who has enjoyed an impressive season at the City Ground. Newcastle United, Manchester United, and Everton are also said to have made similar inquiries.
Williams, 25, signed a new four-year contract with Forest just 12 months ago, tying him to the club until 2029. However, his consistent performances have made him a key target for top-flight rivals. Forest are reportedly keen to offer him another extension to fend off interest.
Forest Boss Praises Williams
On Thursday, Forest head coach Vitor Pereira was asked about speculation regarding Williams' future. He said: 'I don't know. He's another player who deserves everything. He's consistent. I know what I can expect from him every game. He deserves everything. He has been very consistent with quality defending and attacking since we have been working together. He is a very good player.'
Williams joined Forest from Liverpool in 2022 for £15 million and has since made over 150 appearances for the club. He captained the side in last weekend's 1-1 draw with Newcastle United.
Versatility a Key Asset
The Wales international's ability to play on either flank has made him a valuable asset for both club and country. His defensive solidity and attacking contributions have caught the eye of several top clubs.
As the summer transfer window approaches, Aston Villa will face stiff competition if they hope to secure Williams' signature. Forest's determination to keep their star defender could complicate any potential deal.
