Pre-Season Training

Blues' players will return for pre-season towards the end of June. Chris Davies has planned a six-and-a-half-week programme before the season officially begins on the weekend of August 8-9.

The squad will undergo standard fitness testing and train at the Elite Performance and Innovation Centre in Henley-in-Arden before heading to Portugal for a pre-season camp.

Portugal Training Camp

Birmingham City will fly to Portugal on Sunday, July 5 for a six-day training camp, concluding on July 11. They will be based in Lagos in the Algarve region, having spent part of pre-season in Portugal last year as well.

It is expected that Blues will play their first friendly match while in Portugal, though details are yet to be confirmed.

Domestic Friendlies

Once back from Portugal, Blues will play domestic friendlies. Their first friendly on home soil is typically against Solihull Moors for The Arthur Cup, in memory of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes.

Possible Barcelona Friendly

The only friendly that has been mooted so far is a potential meeting with Barcelona at St Andrew's @ Knighthead Park at the end of July. Barcelona are travelling to England to train at St George's Park, and a friendly against Blues is a possibility.

Blues are keen to stage a showpiece friendly at St Andrew's for this year's Trevor Francis Memorial Match. They have previously taken on Francis's former clubs Rangers and Nottingham Forest in the last two years.

Season Start

Birmingham City's season will begin with a Carabao Cup first round match on the weekend of August 8-9, followed by the Championship season starting the following weekend (August 15-16).
