His involvement has dwindled dramatically since October. Elliott has not made a single appearance for the club since October 2, when he came on as a late substitute in the Europa League victory over Feyenoord. His only other notable contribution was scoring on his full debut in the League Cup against Brentford in September.

He was omitted entirely from the matchday squad for victories over Manchester City and AFC Bournemouth, and was ineligible to face his parent club, Liverpool.
This lack of action has naturally sparked intense debate about his long-term prospects at Villa Park. The predicament is further complicated by the fact he played two games for Liverpool before his loan move, which under FIFA regulations prevents him from turning out for a third team this season.

The club released an image of the loanee wearing a Villa woolly hat, a scarf, and a Christmas jumper with the slogan 'All is Claret, All is Blue'.
Elliott himself shared this festive picture on his personal Instagram story, a move that fans have interpreted as a cryptic message regarding his commitment.
