Martinez Transfer Exit Route Emerges After Passionate Speech

The future of goalkeeper Emi Martinez dominated Aston Villa's 2025 summer transfer window – and the rumour mill has already started to churn again. Morgan Rogers is expected to command more attention in the summer market, but Martinez's future is becoming a hot topic 12 months after his Villa career appeared to be over.

Emotional Farewell and Strong Comeback

Villa supporters will remember an emotional Martinez appearing to say goodbye in the final Villa Park match of the 2024/25 season. He was heavily linked with Manchester United during the summer. However, United eventually signed Belgian stopper Senne Lemmens, and Martinez went on to enjoy his most successful season at Villa with Champions League qualification and Europa League victory.

In an impassioned speech to supporters during the trophy parade in Birmingham, Martinez said: “People were saying I only win titles with Argentina but guess what? They're wrong! People were saying I was going to Manchester United but guess what? They're wrong!”

Contract and Current Situation

Martinez still has three years remaining on his Villa contract and is now preparing for Argentina's defence of the World Cup title they won in Qatar four years ago. But the 33-year-old goalkeeper is once again the subject of speculation with Italian side Juventus reportedly interested in his services.

Juventus Interest and Price Tag

Juventus are in the market for a new goalkeeper and their preferred target, Brazilian Alisson Becker, is expected to stay at Liverpool. Martinez is apparently Juve's alternative option, and Corriere dello Sport say Villa will ask for €20 million (£17m). The Argentine joined Villa six years ago and has made 256 appearances in claret and blue.
