Prince Harry arrived in Birmingham this morning for a solo visit to mark one year until the Invictus Games, which will be hosted in the city. His wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and their children were not expected to join him, as they did not travel to the UK for the London leg of his trip.
Event at the NEC
The Duke of Sussex is scheduled to appear at the NEC for an event celebrating the countdown to the Invictus Games. He is expected to sample some of the sports that will feature in the games and deliver a speech alongside other speakers, including Birmingham Labour MP Al Carns.
Security Concerns
The family of four had initially planned to travel to the UK together and arrive on Monday night. However, the decision was made for Harry to travel alone after they were unable to secure taxpayer-funded security. This has been a recurring issue for the couple since stepping back from royal duties.
Invictus Games Legacy
The Invictus Games, founded by Prince Harry, are an international multi-sport event for wounded, injured, or sick armed services personnel and veterans. Birmingham is set to host the next edition, and today's event aims to build excitement and highlight the city's preparations.
