Wolves Striker Jorgen Strand Larsen Attracts Spurs & Newcastle Interest
Wolves' Strand Larsen in January Transfer Spotlight

Wolverhampton Wanderers are facing a fresh dilemma over the future of striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, with Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United both credited with an interest in the Norwegian forward this January.

Midlands Club Braced for Striker Interest

The speculation comes as Wolves, under new manager Rob Edwards, try to build momentum after securing their first Premier League win of the season – a 3-0 victory over West Ham United. Despite that result, the club remains in a perilous position, sitting bottom of the table and 17 points from safety after 20 fixtures.

According to reports, Newcastle’s head of recruitment Steve Nickman was an observer at Molineux last weekend, casting an eye over the 25-year-old striker among other potential targets. However, the Magpies are said to face direct competition from Tottenham Hotspur for Larsen's signature.

Strand Larsen's Struggles and Contract Situation

Since making his loan move from Celta Vigo permanent, Jorgen Strand Larsen has found goals hard to come by. This campaign, he has managed just three goals in 20 appearances across all competitions, with only a solitary strike in the league. This is a stark contrast to his impactful loan spell last season, where his 14 goals in 38 games were crucial in helping the club retain its top-flight status under former boss Vitor Pereira.

Wolves, however, hold a strong contractual position. The Norway international’s deal runs until June 2030, meaning the club is under no financial pressure to sell and can hold out for an offer that meets their valuation during this winter window.

What Could a Move Mean for the Suitors?

For Newcastle, the interest represents a chance to reignite a pursuit that began last summer. The Magpies had identified Larsen as a potential replacement for Alexander Isak before eventually signing Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart. Eddie Howe’s side could view him as valuable attacking depth and are able to offer European football.

Tottenham’s emergence as a contender adds a new dynamic. Under pressure for inconsistent results, manager Thomas Frank may see the January window as a critical period to strengthen his squad, with the London club eager to secure the right recruits.

Prior to his time in England, Strand Larsen made his name in La Liga with Celta Vigo, scoring 18 times in 74 matches, after earlier spells at Sarpsborg and FC Groningen. His future is now firmly up in the air as the transfer window remains open for business.
